Thank you for your interest in submitting to Moonbow Magazine! Below are the guidelines for submitting your work. Please read through these thoroughly before you submit your work. We’re accepting non-themed, blog submissions year-round. Issued submissions will soon be on a deadline. You should hear back 2 weeks after submission. If we do not get back to you within one month, feel free to send an email.

If you would like expedited and detailed feedback (within 1-3 days), please tip $5 to our Ko-Fi page and send a screenshot alongside your submission.

Simultaneous submissions are allowed, but please let us know if it has been submitted elsewhere. Previously published pieces are allowed, but please credit Moonbow or the original publication where it came from. You are NOT giving away your work. Upon publication, rights will be reverted to the author. 

ISSUE 4

How do you experience the world in its fullest state? What is the difference between having knowledge and embracing the unknown? Is the unknown always the scariest thing in life? What do the world and humanity look like on a grand scale? What role does knowledge have in experiencing the world?

Deadline: June 4, 2024

Any submissions for this issue out of this time period will not be accepted! Please look to our general guidelines on what to submit. 

Before You Submit Your Work

  • Does your work match the theme of the issue and does it follow guidelines? If it doesn’t match the theme, but follows guidelines, we can publish on the blog if it’s good quality.
  • Does it have depictions of sexual themes or violence? If it’s not explicit and does not romanticize bad portrayals, then its okay.
  • Is it AI generated? Feel free to see yourself out of here. Any AI generated work will be met with automatic rejection.
  • Does it dehumanize minority groups and feature racism, homophobia, misogyny, ableism, or any other form of bigotry? Not only should you see yourself out, but if you submit, then you will be met with an automatic rejection everytime you try.
  • Do you have to pay? The submission fee is free.99 (it’s free)
  • Will you be paid for submission? Because this is a one-woman show, Moonbow Magazine unfortunately does not have the ability to pay contributors right now.
  • Are you between the ages of 12-27? Since this is a magazine that spotlights Gen Z creatives, we only accept submissions from those between the age range.

Poetry

Please submit a minimum of ONE poem and a maximum of FIVE. Please keep them on one document.

Prose

Please submit up to TWO short stories, with a maximum of 5000 words each. You can submit them in two separate documents.

Non-Fiction/Essays 

Please submit up to TWO pieces of writing, such as creative non-fiction, reviews, or essays, with a maximum of 3000 words each. You can submit them in two separate documents.

Visual Art/Photography

Please submit up to TWO pieces of digital visual artwork or photography in seperate files.

Cover Design

Please submit a cohesive FRONT and BACK cover. If you would like to submit a cover design, please format your design to be 8.5 in x 11 in (816px x 1056px), without any TEXT in the front.

Interviews

Are you a designer, musician, filmmaker, or any creative? Do you want to be featured in the magazine for an interview? Please email us at moonbowzine@gmail.com, and include an explanation of who you are, what you do, where we can find you, four or more photos of yourself and work, and why you would like to be featured in Moonbow.
